That is true. But you do not have to install your own CA. We ask users of
X-Bone to request certificates for users and hosts from
http://www.xbone.net

There are instructions that come along with the email responses from
www.xbone.net. You will need to generate .pem files using the instructions
and store in /usr/local/etc/xbone/certs/. During installation you will
prompted for the location of the certificates and you can point to  the
.pem files. Alternatively if you have already installed xbone, you might
want to run xb-config again. This will generate the configuration file
again.

In future there will a way to use a centralized Overlay Manager from
xbone.net and users can install only RDs.
