[Smac-users] S-MAC Question

Can someone tell me, if after exchanging  an RTS or a  CTS in the S-MAC
protocol, two nodes will start data packet transmission in the sleep period.
Other nodes go to sleep until the next listen period begins.

 

Or the transmission begins in the listen period and can be extended to the
sleep period if needed.
