Hi!

for a test suite I wanted to be able to change transmission power on the 
fly so I wired the CC1000Control.SetRFPower into the s-mac Interface. 
It seemed to have no effect whatsoever since even after setting the output 
power to -20 dBm the mote was still sending with +5dBm. So I looked into 
the problem and found that s-mac keeps resetting the physical layer (It is 
resetting it once shortly after startup and may reset the phy even during 
operation at some times) this means losing any custom configurations since 
they are overwritten by the defaults. According to the comments this was 
done to work around some problem with regard to the mica motes and the old 
programming board.

I have an mib510 serial board so is this hack necessary? Is there any 
other way to achieve such an workaround?
