[ns] how to see the printf outputs of c++ files in the console

Hi all ns-users

I am new to ns2. There are lot of printf statements in the c++ files, how do
i see the out put on the console. Simulation results doesnt show the printf
outputs.

secondly use of debug in c++ codes
like
if (debug)
printf "................."
