[ns] Problem with running nam

Hello all,

try to run nam, it give the following,

nam:
[code omitted because of length]
:* no files matched glob pattern "~"
*    while executing
"glob ~"
    invoked from within
"lindex [glob ~] 0"
    invoked from within
"AnimControl set PORT_FILE_     "[lindex [glob ~] 0]/.nam-port"


my uname is

CYGWIN_NT-5.1 ccsrmmpc56 1.5.24(0.156/4/2) 2008-06-12 19:34 i686 Cygwin

I looked through the archives, and seems the problem has occured
before, but in any of those postings I couldnt find a solution
given,

Kindly help me out of this, I am just starting to use NS for my research.
