[ns] Can one simulate very large topologies in NS?

Hi All,

Is it possible to simulate a network of very large number of nodes in NS? 
One of my topologies has 500 nodes and another one has about 50,000 
nodes.....

Any experience with simulation time, memeory problems, with large number 
of nodes?
