The main measurement I'm looking for is how throughput from a node in Group 1 to a node in Group 4 changes when Groups 1 and 3 join.  The network is to share one channel, although at long distances (different groups) the channel can be used by different nodes simultaneously e.g. a node in Group 1 could talk at the same time as a node in Groups 2, 3, or 4, neglecting the nodes on the boundaries.  There is not intended to be any coordination beyond CSMA.
