[ns] god set-dist.. explanation

Can someone please explain me how exactly is this used by ns?

and also: is this statement always valid? What if it is discordant with the
locations of the two nodes at that time? It is ignored then?
And most important how exactly is this related to an Ad-Hoc routing
algorithm. For example, AODV uses this information to create its routing
tables? (I hope not)
