[ns] need some help regarding the "working of CMUTrace"...

Dear All, 

Can anyone tell me whether the NsObjects( agents, MAC
layer etc) explicitly invoke the CMUTrace functions or
does CMUTrace work independently like a packet
capturing utility? I am a bit confused here...

I will appreciate if , you explain with reference to
the source code.
