[ns] cbq in diffserv

Hi

CBWFQ, which stands for the Class-Based Weighted Fair Queuing, is the term
invented in Cisco laboratories and used in books. In practice, it is the
same WFQ in which sessions correspond to _classes_ or _aggregates_, not to
the distinctive flows. So, if you need WFQ in diffserv in ns-2, here is the
link:

Hi

I have done some searchs and found the existence of a scheduling mechanism
named CBWFQ. It seems to be good for DiffServ with class based.

There is the same problem related to hierarchical link sharing like CBQ, or
other limitation?

Already exists an implementation to ns-2? If yes, where I can find it?

Thanks,
Ricardo Santos

Hi

There is no sense in implementing CBQ for DiffServ. CBQ aims to perform the
hirarchical link sharing, in which high levels correspond to the
organizations (departments, and so on), and lower levels correspond to some
services. The DiffServ abstracts from it by introducing PHBs. Another reason
not to implement CBQ for DiffServ is the complexity of the former. The
DiffServ framework relies upon the simple and fast scheduling mechanisms,
such as FCFS, PQ, WRR/DRR, SCFQ.
