Your path is seriously deficient. Look in the list archives for a message dated June 3, 2005 6:00 AM for details about how to set it correctly.

P.S. Note to the FAQ maintainers: It would appear that many new researchers were raised on the MS-Windows philosophy of leaving the details up to the OS. Please take this into consideration when deciding what to add to the helpful documents.
