[ns] Synthesis of scripts and/or traffic

Has anyone written any scripts to create an emulation from a physical
description of the network to be emulated or to generate traffic files
for an emulation run?

I have ns-allinone-2.28 installed on a FreeBSD 5.4 system at 10.3.1.253.
The application server I need to exercise is at 10.1.5.169. I want to
emulate a router and four subnets behind the actual computer, feeding it
either from a pcap file or a random traffic generator. Those subnets are
10.3.2.0, 10.3.3.0, 10.3.4.0 and 10.3.5.0. There should be an average of
50 computers on each subnet initially, increasing to at least 200 each
over a series of test runs. Each node will open a socket to the
application server and occasionally send a sequence of two messages. The
primary purpose is to test the TCP stack and socket library on the
server to verify they can handle that many open connections. A secondary
goal is to determine the maximum sustainable throughput of the server in
a variety of configurations.

Setting all of this up manually is going to take a lot of time. I am
looking for shortcuts, templates, scripts, etc. to take over most of the
manual labor of defining and configuring the nodes and creating the
traffic.

Thank you,
