[ns] Transmisison range

Hi friends.. 
I use ns 2.27. I am working over the transmission
range computation.. I have a doubt on the relationship
between the transmission power and the range..

How come the transmisison range vary when power stated
by 'Pt_' is varied??

I have aldready gone through the threshold.cc where
the transmititng power has been defined.. Kindly help
me
