[ns] regarding traffic generation

Iam new to NS .. i have question regarding the traffic generation
in NS
NS uses exponential/pareto ON/OFF distributions, given the burst length,
channel bandwidth and the idle time
It would be highly helpful if anyone could give pointers to
prior studies that use the above ON/OFF distributions to model internet
