Yes.

No. There is no need to install anything on a hard drive if you are planning
to write the tcl scripts and simulate them. However, if you want to extend
NS2 by modifying its C++ code (or writing your own) you will need to rebuild
(compile) NS2. This cannot be done on a read only file system (remember you
are running this Debian based distribution from a non writable CD!).
Therefore, in this case you will have to install ZouriX to a hard drive
(this can be done quite easily though, since there is a ready script written
by Fabian Franz. All you have to do is open a root shell, type
"knoppix-installer" and follow the directions).
