To my knowledge, the wireless  link delay depends on the
length of the wireless  link, i.e., the distance (d) from the base 
station to
the mobile terminal (or the distance between the adhoc nodes). And the
delay will be  d/c, where c is the velocity of electromagnetic wave 
(3*10^8 m/sec).
If I understood your question properly, then one way is to
increase the 'd' (remember u have to adjust the transmission power 
accordingly..to make
sure ur reception will be proper). If u want u can also try to play with the
value of 'c' to see the effect of delay.
