[ns] maxslot_ variable behavior

Hi all!
I urgently need your help in identifying a problem
with the working of the field maxslot_ in the mutipath
classifier.
i am using this variable to determine the number of
routes at an instance. I am using DV routing.
When I break a link (link down) for a certain duration
and then make the link state as 'up'  then the value
of maxslot_ variable varies arbitrarily and becomes
zero sometimes even if there are many other 'up' flows
at that time.
I am unable to understand this behavior.
can someone please help me with this..
