[ns] Can AP run in pure (E)DCF mode?

Hi,
 Can someone who used the 80211e implementation help
me.
 Im trying to use the stanford 80211e implementation
of EDCF. 
 In a test tcl file : main-edcf.tcl , they seem to
create an Access point node AP_ .
 
 Do we need AccessPoints to test EDCF mode? Cant we
just use adhoc nodes?
