Hi,

My name is Tadeu Martins, I am a Communications Systems Masters student
from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), in
Brazil, and I recently discovered that ns-3 project was accepted as a
mentor organization in Google Summer of Code.

Although I'm a freshman in this area -- I've just started my Masters
course and my undergraduation was in Computer Engineering -- I'm
interested in participating the development of 3GPP/LTE simulation,
especially the MAC model, as suggested by the Wiki
(http://www.nsnam.org/wiki/index.php/GSOC2010Projects#MAC_and_PHY_models_for_LTE).
I contacted the mentioned mentors, and they recommended me to bring the
discussion to the developers list.

Since the students applications' deadline is Friday next week, I thought
it would be better to enter in contact as early as possible, so the
community could help me to outline a development plan. Although I don't
have a specific knowledge about the protocol, I have a generic
understanding of OSI layers, its functions, multiplexing/multiple access
methods and a solid experience in C programming, with good knowledge in
C++. Some guidance would help me to detect if I'm able to keep up with
this project or not.

Best regards,
