Greetings! I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in advancing
ns-3 for GSOC 2010. Thanks to everyone on the ns-3 staff who has supported
my proposal thus far, and Josh Pelkey for agreeing to mentor it.
To inform the rest of the ns-3 developing community (and to ask for your
insight if anything comes to mind), this is the basic summary of my
endeavor:
I will create an OpenFlow-compatible switch module for ns-3. ns-3 lacks a
switch module, so the addition should enhance simulations, regardless of
whether or not one would want to use the OpenFlow-compatibility. However,
with the growing popularity of OpenFlow as the future of switches,
OpenFlow-compatibility will allow much more flexibility in the switch
simulation as controllers are written and flow configurations are developed.
Let me know what you think, or have any questions. Looking forward to
working with you all!
Blake
