Hello all,
What are the steps for implementing a new network protocol to use instead of
IPv4. My understanding is that ns-3 is primarily simulating Internet like
networks, but if new network-layer protocols need to be developed for
specific domains can ns-3 handle such a task?
If you can direct to some documents or share your ideas, I would greatly
appreciate.
Best regards,
Egemen
Below is the e-mail I sent to users list but didn't get a response:

Hi,
I am working on implementing a new network protocol to use instead of
IPv4. I am wondering what are the steps to take for such a task?
I read the how to implement an application on the wiki at the
following link and applied it (it worked well):
http://www.nsnam.org/wiki/index.php/HOWTO_make_and_use_a_new_application
But given that IPv4 is all over (/src/internet-stack, /src/node), and
interacting with multitude of files and other layers, I am looking for
some guidance and past experiences.
Thanks,
Egemen Cetinkaya
