To some extent, yes.  Our mentors for this year have several areas in
which they are most interested, largely based on projects that
compliment their existing research.  We have some room to support
outstanding applications in other areas, but will be prioritizing
those topics our mentors are most interested in.

To help identify those areas, we've just edited the project ideas page
[1] to make clear what has been identified as a priority for this
year's projects.  We encourage everyone to take a look and start
bringing some discussion on those or any topic to the mailing list.
Such discussion may also raise interest in new areas among our mentor
pool, so it is well worth doing so even for new topics.
