That all looks fine, although sounds like a lot of work is ahead of you :-)

Before proceeding you should take a look at existing projects.  One is my
own gjc/ns-3-pyviz branch.  It has focus on real-time visualization of what
is going on with the simulation, but has nothing to do with building the
simulation script via GUI.  Also there is the iNSpect project, which is
initially for NS-2 but they were planning to support also NS-3.
