Although, as he noted, Harjot and his team have not tested the Chord
implementation in emulation, other parts of Boon Loo's group at UPenn
have done a lot of experimentation with ns-3 in emulation. That
includes both the local cluster and the Orbit testbed. There is some
discussion on this in their recent WinTECH paper [1,2]. I think those
experiences indicate such a task is very doable in ns-3 at the moment,
and in terms of changes to the Chord implementation would only require
making sure the serialization formats match.
