I started a list of supported platforms and ns-3 options on a wiki page
that describes in more detail the installation process:

As you noted, there are a lot of option/platform combinations that are
now possible, with many untested.
Any feedback on this page in general and on the list of supported
platforms in particular? I did not try to fully build out or populate
the option table; suggestions welcome.

I agree; we also need to get some test coverage for NSC and for the
python scripts. Please let me know what other test cases must be added
to the nightly regression script to start to pick up more cases.
