Dear All,
News:
=====
ns-3.2-RC1 was posted yesterday.
Comments:
=========
There seem to have been a flurry of build and download related issues and
bugs reported in the past 24 hours. There are really only a few core issues
here, though. These are being quickly addressed and have led to some good
discussions about download and build policies and test and supported build
environments.
IMO, it is a good thing that this is happening. Please, if you have any
problems getting ns-3.2-RC1 to work in your supported environment, file a
bug! Now is the time.
Test, test, test!
Bugs:
=====
As of Thursday Morning, September 5, 2008, we have seven P1 bugs filed
against ns-3.2-RC1:
Bug 239 -- tcp has no finite size rcv buffer.
Status: I believe Raj is going to handle this.
Bug 242 -- TCP does not send FIN on Socket->Close()
Status: This is in Raj's area.
Bug 277 -- star topologies are painful to create
Status: Craig will deal with this.
Bug 297 -- Python Binding Compilation error with Cygwin
Status: I believe Gustavo is going to address this.
Bug 302 -- CSMA Devices should default to DIX not LLC encapsulation.
Status: This is going to be Craig's fault, of course.
Bug 308 -- build fails on i386 machine unless python disabled
Status: Sounds like Gustavo is going to be the victim.
Bug 309 -- ns-3.2 RC1 build fails on FreeBSD7
Status: Mathieu is working this one with Tom.
Progress / Closed Bugs:
=======================
We have closed the following bugs relating to ns-3.2-RC1:
Bug 303 -- DataCalculator::GetKey triggers a PyBindGen bug
Resolution: Fixed
Bug 304 -- wifi does not support bridging
Resolution: Fixed
Bug 306 -- nsc: -ldl dependency problem
Resolution: Fixed
Bug 310 -- Python Bindings Build Error in Cygwin
Resolution: Marked as duplicate
Next Steps:
===========
As soon as the build issues have dissipated, I will post an ns-3-RC2 --
tentatively, scheduled for Monday, September 8. If people feel that it is
important to get a quicker update out for testing I can be easily convinced
to do an ns-3-RC1-bis release tomorrow or Saturday.
Barring any disasters, I will post ns-3-RC3 on Friday, September 12. This
should be completely feature-complete and P1-bug-free if at all possible.
The release of ns-3.2 will be on Monday, September 15. Hopefully this will
be, in essence, a renaming of ns-3-RC3.
Regards,
-- Craig
