Dear All,

Well, it is that time of year again. It's the season for getting an ns-3.2
put together for release on or about September 15, 2008.

The functional candidates for release this time around are:

1) Python bindings (which have been merged into ns-3-dev for some time);
2) Bridge device (which was merged in late July);
3) Real-time Simulator (merged last week);
4) Statistics framework and examples (merged this past Friday);
5) NSC extensions (in the process of being merged).

This past Friday (August 29), some of the current bug priorities were
re-evaluated to identify things which must be fixed prior to the release of
ns-3.2. As happened in ns-3.1, these bugs have had their priorities bumped
to P1.

Bug 242 -- TCP does not send FIN on Socket->Close()
Bug 277 -- star topologies are painful to create
Bug 302 -- CSMA Devices should default to DIX not LLC encapsulation.

If you feel that other bugs deserve to be considered for P1 status (must be
resolved prior to ns-3.2) you should bump their priorities
as-soon-as-possible. If you think you have functionality that should be
included in ns-3.2, feel free to make the request (ASAP).

As soon as the merges are complete, I will begin the process of assembling
ns-3.2-RC1. At this time, ns-3-dev will be frozen -- checkins will not be
allowed except in the case of fixing priority one bugs. I anticipate this
will happen tonight and announcement to the list will quickly follow.

Regards,

-- Craig
