Dear all,

Yesterday, Tom sent out a link to a wiki page that described the latest,
greatest release process we are going to use for ns-3.

Tom has asked me (one more time) to be the release manager for ns-3.3, so I
applied this method to ns-3.3, based on a December 15th release date. I
have put together a Wiki page that describes the milestones for the release
of ns-3.3 that you can find at the following location:

http://www.nsnam.org/wiki/index.php/Ns-3.3

Some selected important milestones you will find there are:

M4: October 27 -- Deadline for new feature submissions that require design
review;
M5:  November 3  -- Approved new feature ready-for-merge deadline;
M11: December 1  -- Code freeze phase begins;
M12: December 1  -- ns-3.3-RC1;
M16: December 15 -- ns-3.3 posted.

As you can see, if you have a major feature addition you want to get into
ns-3.3, and it crosses maintainer boundaries, you have a little less than
three weeks to get it to me in a state where it is ready for merge. Sooner
would be better (please), but you will timeout for ns-3.3 on October 27th.
You have a little more time for smaller-scope features, but regardless of
the size or complexity of your addition, the latest you can possibly submit
a feature with any hope for inclusion in ns-3.3 is November 3rd.

Please see the above wiki for what you need to do to get your feature ready
to start the merge process; and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to
ask.

Regards,

-- Craig
