Quick note before I head out the door for the weekend:

I have been looking at some of the ns-2 packages.  There are quick
notes at [1].  I have a little high-level feature matrix & component
model (architecture diagram) for them as well but did not get a chance
to post yet.  I should get to that Monday afternoon.

In general, I see the first work as being very much like ns2measure
and the non-distributive features of ns2/akaroa-2, but updated for
ns-3 features (e.g., improved tracing).  Those traces will most likely
require some glue code to bridge from traces to calculators, but we
may be able to cover some common cases.  Replication distribution is
probably not a first spiral goal, but something to keep in mind.  One
key design decision here is that I lean toward having simulation
control outside of the simulation scripts, i.e. we boot & run new sim
programs for each trial.  It seems cleaner & simpler from a sim
writer's perspective.
