I understand that. From my perspective, though, any of these is equally
bad: they all look pretty much arbitrary to me.

That is good to know but, my major concern with the kind of tweaking you
are pushing for and everyone else is pushing for is exactly this kind of
"unamed", "unverifiable", and, ultimately, totally arbitrary data
points. Lots of hear say, little actual repeatable reproducible
evidence :/ For example, you (and every one else: I don't want to single
you out) say nothing about the dispersion of that requirement...

To summarize, what you suggest is in line with what everyone else is
doing so, there is no real reason to hold you responsible for the sad
state of PHY layer modelization but, ultimately, this needs to change if
we want to really improve the qualitative and quantitative output of our
simulations.

Anyhow, +1 for this patch in ns2.
