Dear All,

News:
=====

We're almost there. Raj has reported that a last-minute problem with a
possible regression in test-csma-star has appeared. It seems that this
regression is not reproducible (at least I can't reproduce it), and I have
seen one transient regression in test-third today that I cannot explain nor
reproduce. In the spirit of "better safe than sorry" I am delaying the
release of ns-3.3-RC4 until tomorrow while this is further investigated.

Comments:
=========

We will release ns-3.3-RC4 as soon as the P1 bug count drops to zero.

Bugs:
=====

As of Friday night (PST), December 12, 2008, we have three P1 bugs filed
against ns-3.3-RC3:

- Bug 417 (stack explosion when sending to loopback device)

  Assigned to Raj.

- Bug 418  (RttEstimator::RetransmitTimeout can return a negative value)

  Assigned to Raj. A patch is queued for posting once we figure
  out this regression situation.

- Bug 444 (Inernet-stack trace sources not well documented)

  Assigned to Craig. A documentation strategy decision was taken
  today. Craig promises a resolution before RC.

Progress / Closed Bugs:
=======================

- Bug 365 (TcpSocketImpl::Recv returns 0 without setting m_errno) -- Fixed
- Bug 423 (TCP copy constructor wrong) -- Fixed
- Bug 442 (The device trace sources in the system are not very well
documented) -- Fixed

New Bugs:
=========

None.

Next Steps:
===========

The release of ns-3.3-RC4 is currently planned for Saturday, December 13,
2008.

The final release of ns-3.3 is currently planned for Wednesday, December 17,
2008.

Regards,

-- Craig
