Hi all!
I'm a student at the University of Florence and i am going to write my
diploma thesis in the next 6 months. I am working with the researcher
development team of the LART lab (Telecommunication Engineering) in
order to realize 802.11n support for NS-3.
Our main goal is to simulate the frame aggregation feature. In the
future we aim at implementing the High Througput terminal behaviour with
MIMO technology.
We plan to add to NS-3 the interfaces for the physical and MAC layer in
order to support 802.11n standard, in particolar our interest is focused on:
-Frame Aggregation
-Block ACK
-HCF (EDCA and support for HCCA)
-TXOP
-HT terminal (also with protection modes)
-MIMO
We are also interested to verify the 11n terminal throughput when are
associated terminal of a/b/g standards.
We plan to release our code to the public use under the same copyright
as NS-3, and if possible to merge our 802.11n modules into main NS-3
branch. In order to do that, however, we feel important to coordinate
with the NS-3 802.11 development group, specifically for the decisions
about the modules interfaces.
We'd also be very happy to know if there is any other group working on
the same topic, as is 802.11n.
In our opinion the things that need to be first settled are about:
1) MIMO:
Is the best strategy the implementation of four physical layers or one?
2) BlockAck:
For blockAck feature is sufficient implement it in MacLow layer?
3) Frame aggregation:
Is the best choice to put aggregation's implementation in dca-txop or in
an upper "layer"?
4) EDCA:
For EDCA is sufficient realize a qsta and a qap classes with four
dca-txop which represent the four queue for the differents AC?
The number of topics to be discussed are quite a few, so we'd like to
have first some feedbacks about the general 802.11n development idea and
roadmap.
As soon as we will receive feebacks we will post different threads for
each of the above points or any other related.
Best regards,
Mirko
