Dear All,
This is a reminder that we are in the process of putting together our next
release -- ns-3.3. We are now in the code-freeze phase of release process.
Code freeze means that the ns-3-dev is locked down, and all checkins to
ns-3-dev must be in response to P1 bugs and any checkins must be coordinated
with your friendly neighborhood release manager (me). Please, no checkins
without approval -- it might not seem like it, but uncoordinated checkins
can cause a surprisingly large amount of pain over here.
Due to a glitch late last night, the release of Ns-3.1-RC1 was slipped until
today and I am in the process of doing the final tests and copying the bits
right now. You can expect the first release candidate within an hour or so.
I will send out a release notice and begin the annoying bug status emails as
soon as RC1 is available on the server. We still have a fair-sized stack of
bugs to address, by the way.
Based on a desire to ship releases on Wednesdays, I have slightly shuffled
the RC schedule. The following is an approximate schedule and if things go
extremely well, perhaps not all RC slots will be used. If things go poorly,
well, we may need more.
Tuesday, December 2 -- ns-3.3-RC1;
Saturday, December 6 -- ns-3.3-RC2;
Wednesday, December 10 -- ns-3.3-RC3;
Saturday, December 14 -- ns-3.3-RC4;
Wednesday, December 17 -- ns-3.3 posted;
Regards,
-- Craig
