[Ns-developers] ns-3.2 release planning

We are about due for another ns-3 release. I'd like to suggest that we aim for wrapping up development and merging of new features for ns-3.2 by the end of the week, and post a release candidate around the end of the month, with a goal of making the release by mid-September. Craig has agreed to serve as release manager again.

Here are a few items that I think we should aim for this week:

1) merge nsc; there are a few issues to deal with (final review of Florian's code, Sam to make a new nsc release, build system integration) but as we discussed on the list last week, we are probably close to being ready to merge this code

2) move ns-3-stat to src/contrib: the proposed statistics framework could be put into src/contrib for now to gather more feedback from users, and Joe agreed to try to work on this merge for this week

3) real-time scheduler: Craig plans to merge this very soon

4) bridge issues: There are a few open bugs regarding the bridge device, for which it would be nice to get closure on this week. Bugs 274, 268, 286, and 114 are related to this.

The above plan would slide the following efforts to the ns-3.3 release: tags rework, IPv4 rework, IPv6 integration, ns-3-emu, and ns-3-simu support

If there are other pieces that people would like to see merged for ns-3.2, please suggest them now.

Thanks,
Tom
