hi,

As outlined by Tom, we need some sort of timer API. The attached
document contains an extensive discussion of the various alternatives.
Unless someone can come up with better solutions, I will implement
sometime this week or next week:

  - a Simulator::remove method
  - the last solution described in the document, hopefully with a better
class name if I can come up with one.
