They have a specific problem with the gram client library that is blocking their progress. Details below. -----Original Message----- From: John McGee Sent: Monday, December 09, 2002 12:04 PM To: Larry Flon Cc: Carl Kesselman Subject: helping w/ Datacutter integration Just finished a con call with OSU re datacutter/Globus integration. These guys are sharp and have a very good sense of what needs to be done. They need some help from an engineer to trouble shoot a problem in getting their sample code that uses the gram client library to execute a process on a remote host. They are willing to post messages to the globus list for help, but think this one could use some extra attention. They have globus installed and working in the lab, globus-job-run works. Found some sample gram client code and can't make it work. getting an error code 10, which globus site says is most likely and auth(z) problem, it suggests checking the gatekeeper log, but their log shows success for auth(z). not sure what to do next. Integration points: * currently use ssh to startup console processes on different hosts; want to transition to gram * communication layer: currently insecure; want to use GlobusIO and gsi security * Discovery: currently their processes register with a deamon for discovery, will consider also publishing this info into MDS, but were more hesitant about this - don't yet understand the value of doing so. I'll keep working this one. * Mentioned to them the possibility of integrating with GridFTP and the replica management technologies (not unlike their current SRB integration project), they are open to exploring this, but want to knock out the above items first.
