From deelman@ISI.EDU Tue Aug 6 01:07:35 2002 From: deelman@ISI.EDU (Ewa Deelman) Date: Mon, 5 Aug 2002 17:07:35 -0700 Subject: [Ivdgl-glue] Glue schema Message-ID: <41C31855E83ED31199D300C04F57A073F1B52F@hermes.isi.edu> Hi, Ben Clifford put together the following notes on how to include the glue schema in the current MDS 2.1 installations: One possibility is to run two separate information hierarchies (i.e. two GRISes on each node - one returning GLUE and one returning MDS2.1 info) but this is additional administrative overhead. So a better solution is to have the GIISes carry both schemas (instructions below). == MDS 2.1 GIISes can store GLUE data as well as traditional MDS 2.1 as long as they are given the GLUE schema file. To do this, get the GLUE schema file and put it somewhere on the giis machine. Then edit $GLOBUS_LOCATION/etc/grid-info-slapd.conf and add an include line that points to this file. Every GIIS in the hierarchy needs to have this done. == If you want to use an MDS2.1 GRIS with GLUE information providers - you'll need to do two things: i) get information providers that output GLUE information (eg. the still-in-testing Ganglia GLUE providers) and install those. ii) install the GLUE schema into the GRIS slapd (using the same procedure as above). == Retrieving GLUE information: GIISes will return everything that is supplied by the downstream GRISes - if one has information providers in the GRISes that return both GLUE and MDS2.1 information, one will get all that information in the GIISes. One can then get just GLUE or just MDS2.1 information out of the GIISes by correctly constructed queries. -- Thanks, -Ewa Ewa Deelman, PhD USC/Information Sciences Institute,     Phone: (310) 448-8408 4676 Admiralty Way, Suite 1001           Fax: (310) 823-6714 Marina del Rey, CA 90292-6695           www.isi.edu/~deelman From deelman@ISI.EDU Tue Aug 6 17:29:47 2002 From: deelman@ISI.EDU (Ewa Deelman) Date: Tue, 6 Aug 2002 09:29:47 -0700 Subject: [Ivdgl-glue] new schemas Message-ID: <41C31855E83ED31199D300C04F57A073F1B53A@hermes.isi.edu> Hi, I'm not sure if the MDS 2.2 has the latest glue schema, therefore I think we should hold off on upgrading the information servers until we have a clear picture of where things stand.
