Zita -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: APRUNet's Distance Learning Partnership Project Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2004 22:25:53 -0700 From: Zita Wenzel To: APRUNet Representatives [Second Call] Dear Colleagues, I am restarting the APRUNet Distance Learning Partnership Project that was delayed by SARS. The Distance Learning Partnership Project was designed for collaborations between APRU universities and their high school partners. Please see for a description of the project and for an article on the APEC grant. APRUNet's overall goal for the Distance Learning Partnership Project (DLPP) is to substantially improve the capabilities of leading research universities and their high school partners to successfully utilize the growing stream of advanced information technologies to improve distance learning, and science education through distance learning, both within their own national cultures and with international partners across cultures. The meeting regarding this project's future will be held in Beijing in conjunction with APRUNet's Distance Learning and the Internet conference which will be hosted by Tsinghua University 11-13 October 2004 . The APEC grant can be used to help cover travel expenses to the meeting. The planned goal and outcome of the meeting is a specific, concrete project that can be completed within a year. I see the project as a collaboration between high school students and APRU universities. I also believe that the central technology for this project may center on videoconferencing. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please respond to me and include a paragraph or two on your ideas for the Project. If you have high school partner representatives who would be interested in attending, please also let me know and send their names, titles, and complete contact information. If you, or your high school representative, would like to apply for funding, please send me your (or their) name, title, and complete contact information. I look forward to working with you on APRUNet's Distance Learning Partnership Project.
