The fifth in its series, the conference aims to bring together leading distance learning experts from academia, business and public sectors from around the world. This year's theme is: "Distance Learning - Benefiting All" with the following three sub-themes: 1. Quality control and accreditation 2. Technology trends and challenges 3. Globalization and development Issues addressed at the conference include quality assurance and assessment of technology mediated courses, emerging trends and challenges in distance learning delivery as well as the inter-relationship between globalization and internet technology. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange views on how internet technology can be effectively harnessed to benefit the educational sector and society. The call for papers is now open to all APRU members. Papers relating to the conference themes are welcome. All papers are to be submitted to Tsinghua University at dli2004@tsinghua.edu.cn by July 31, 2004. The conference fee will be US$260 which will cover meal and conference arrangement expenses from October 11-13, 2004.
