1. APRU “DISTANCE LEARNING AND THE INTERNET CONFERENCE”
<http://www.fenu.ru/dli2005/>

The 6th APRU Distance Learning and the Internet (DLI) Conference will be
held at Far Eastern National University (FENU), Vladivostok, Russia,
from 4-7 October 2005.

NOTE: Though the DLI2005 registration deadline is 10 September 2005,
most international participants will need a Russian entry visa. To get
it without expensive emergency procedures and applying for tourist
visas, you have to SUBMIT YOUR REGISTRATION FORM BY 15 AUGUST. The
Russian Ministry of International Affairs requires 30 days for approving
the official invitations, and FENU needs a few days more to deliver the
invitations to the conference participants by express mail. Only after
this, the conference participants can apply for their visas to Russian
Embassies and Consulates. For this reason, we advise you to register as
soon as possible. For those who will be late with their registrations
after 15 August, there is still a possibility to apply for a tourist
visa in shorter terms, but an official invitation saves time and money.

The sixth in its series, the conference aims to bring together leading,
international distance learning experts from academia, business and
public sectors. The theme for this year is "Linking People through
Information Technology Education".

The sub-themes for the Conference are namely:

1. Content development in distance and blended learning
2. Infrastructure, technology trends and challenges
3. Cultural exchanges through distance learning
4. Student issues in distance learning and the Internet

Issues addressed at the Conference will include e-learning content and
quality assurance, credit transfers, online degree recognition, aspects
of infrastructure such as video-conferencing, technology-enabled
learning, technology trends and challenges. Special interest topics for
this year's conference will include student experiences and
presentations in distance learning.

“The Fifth Annual "Distance Learning and the Internet" Conference was
hosted by Tsinghua University, Beijing, China from 11-13 October 2004.
Presentations are available on the conference web site at
